Nahlir Qorad – Session 1

Dear Family,

I have decided to start writing letters to let you know how things are going. I am not sure how they will reach you yet but I will work with Sultan-Genie Zahir al-Duun to work out the means of getting them there.

Its day 3 in this “town” they call Valleysrest. These people live small and simple and drink terrible drinks. Don’t ever try Ale…

People are scared of me so I remain covered but that doesn’t stop the attention I draw. Today I met someone who almost draws as much attention as I do. His name was Kol Badar, the first elf I have ever met. I dont remember the books describing them as dark and dreary and grumpy but who knows.

He said he lives in caverns called the Underdark it reminded me of The Veins back home. He’s far from home as well, I felt a sense of comfort from him for the first time being here. This fellow does not like Orcs at all though… matter of fact he hates them.

I dont know much about them but if Father has some spare time have him go to Archives and read up on Orks, Elfs, The Underdark, Sinisfell, or Dagoth. I dont know the next time I will be able to study.

I tried to sell him some goods but I need to think of something more practical for him.

A lady came in in distress, her son had been lost to a mountain they called Mountain’s Spite. She spoke of a dungeon that people seemed scared of. Seemed like the best lead towards one of the Tributes.

Two strong men volunteered and looked like seasoned adventurers as well as my new found friend so I convinced them to take me along. They’re either dumb or extremely confident I haven’t found out which yet.

Carrick and Moses, I made acquaintances as they could be very much of service to me. It felt like I had my own bodyguards now doing the hard work for me.

Once we got they led their way through the caves, we saw signs of ancient orcs and the stars. Moses resonated with them, he’s a bit of an odd one but he’s very similar to me in ways I didn’t foresee.

There was a statue that came to life and struck out at us. I slayed my first monster! Well I hit it once and they killed it but you know.

We walked through and found some old books on ancient orc experiments. Kol took them and I didn’t get to look through it much but he said it was all in Orcish so I wouldn’t have helped much.

We found some sarcophagi, it was quite unsettling being that close to the dead, The others didn’t bat an eye. I’m not sure if that’s common for these folks. They also are all weirdly magical. I thought magic was less prominent here but I guess not. They are all quite skilled in both combat and magic. Its nice though it makes me stick out less.

Finally we found the boy, Tomas, was him name. He lied next to a burning book. It embered like it was on fire but remained in tact. I looked at it but nothing happened, it was clearly magical but I couldn’t get a bead on it. Add this to fathers list of things to research… I assume I will know if I find a Tribute right?

Then UNDEAD ORCS came, yes… the first Orcs I have ever seen were dead.

I hid and let the others take care of them but Pebblewick wanted some action and managed to get his first kill before I.

I write this from the end of the dungeon, untouched. Moses took a blow but insisted he was fine. I belt Maljir would be proud. Let him know I am so sorry still and I love him.

I think I will stick with this guys as long as I can. They are willing to take blows for me and lead me so I will take full advantage of it. I dont know how much longer I can maintain this guise, hopefully they wont be scared of me.

But we must get on the way… I love you all.
